What fun two days. Our Halloween festivities started off with a trip to Madison to attend Freedom Fest with our friends Mack, Melissa & Logan. It was a neat festival, and everything was totally free, but the lines were awful. We ended up hitting one jumpy slide, the petting zoo & the volunteer fire dept. stand for a hot dog.
The kids had a great time & Caroline loved the petting zoo!
On the actual day of Halloween, we headed to church for another fun festival of sorts. We had our Reformation Celebration & they had games & candy for the kids. Caroline loved the 'cake walk' as she quickly figured out how to walk and stop with the music, somehow always winning a prize (food/sweets) at the end of each game. She loved it. Hayes kept us moving as he is everywhere & in to everything now.
We headed home & hit a few houses on our street. Caroline & Hayes's friend, Thomas, payed us a visit & he was Dr. Cross for the evening. They are so cute all playing together. Thomas decided 'Princess Caroline' needed a pushing in the wagon.
Making every effort to keep the night a 'cry free' night, we found Hayes sucking on a tootsie pop. He has never had a sucker before & when we found him he was just chewing on the paper. I had no idea he had opened the sucker & was eating the entire thing! He got all the way to the tootsie roll & loved it. His costume was a sticky mess, but he had a great time (he didn't choke, we watched him closely...once we found out he was actually eating the sucker and not just playing with it!)
Caroline was supposed to be Alice in Wonderland, but when it was time to dress up, she announced, 'I can't like Alice' thus the princess costume came out. Alice was not worth the fight (though it was a much cuter outfit)....we pick our battles! Here she is practicing giving candy to trick or treaters. What a lesson on sharing! She had a ball giving out candy---what candy she could tear away from her hungry daddy!
We had a great time & Caroline loved saying Trick-or-Treat. Once she figured out she would be rewarded, she was all about saying the magic words.
