Soccer with Nana

Hayes had his very first soccer game last Saturday & we missed it. Troy, Caroline & I were in NYC, so Nana (my mom) got to take Hayes to his first game. I can't talk much about missing it because I'm going to pretend that tomorrow, okay today since it's so late, will be his first game & I haven't missed a thing. However, we did miss a thing. We missed a lot.

Hayes loves his blanket. He isn't super attached to it and he NEVER takes it out of the house. Unless he is with Nana. Like all grandmothers (or most anyway), she doesn't like Hayes to really cry or get upset, so he convinced her that his blanket could go to soccer with him. Boy, that didn't go so well. But, she was a TOTAL SPORT to take him as he runs, non-stop, constantly. Our neighbor , John, helped mom with Hayes at the game and practice. We owe him. BIG. My wonderful mother didn't tell me exactly how the difficult the soccer game was only that it was funny & Hayes wasn't much on playing. Most of the other kids aren't big players either, just out to have fun--come on, they are 3. It's so fun to watch them run around, cry, daddy's pep-talk, then watch them run again. I say that because I'm not a daddy pep-talking!
So tomorrow we will try again. We'll see if Nana shows up. I think 5 days with little man and she deserves a long, quiet weekend. She was great to take him to soccer but blanket won't be in attendance tomorrow...
